So there I was, looking out the window at work and it was a beautiful October day, and all I was thinking about was that I could totally be in Washington Square Park right now. We were getting offers to travel next summer, and I was gonna have to turn them down, because of this job. I had health insurance. I had a great salary — all this shit. And my parents were finally glad that I was stable. After a couple of days of mulling it over I was like man, I can’t do this. I can’t miss this chance. So I quit.
All that fall we played the park, and when it started getting cold we went into the subway. One day Michael just came up with the idea to pack up and come to New Orleans. I think in the back of our minds we figured we’d be back in New York by spring. We had no idea what was gonna happen...
